Berea Heating, Cooling and Air Quality Service

About one in six Berea homes was built before 1940, and the century homes on the streets around Baldwin Wallace need a different approach than a new build does. Raber HVAC is set up for both. We repair and replace furnaces, boilers, air conditioners and water heaters for homes near Coe Lake, along Eastland Road and out toward the Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds.

What Berea houses ask of a heating and cooling system

The largest share of Berea homes was built in the 1950s and 1960s, but about one in six predates 1940, with frame houses and sandstone foundations from the quarry years. Those older homes often still have gravity era duct trunks, a converted boiler or a furnace tucked into a low basement corner. Replacement there takes measuring and planning, not just a swap.

The East Branch of the Rocky River cuts through the north end of town at Berea Falls, and the low ground near the river runs damp. Basements there hold humidity that shortens the life of a furnace cabinet and rusts out condensate lines. Add rental houses near the university where systems get run hard, and regular maintenance matters more here than in a newer suburb.

Berea heating and cooling questions

If yours is not here, call and ask. We would rather answer it now than have you guess.

Ask us directly

My Berea house has radiators and no ducts. Can I still get air conditioning?

Yes. Ductless mini split systems mount on an interior wall and need only a small line set through the exterior, which suits the older houses near Front Street where there is no room for trunk lines. High velocity ducted systems are the other option when you want hidden vents.

Do you keep the boiler or switch to forced air?

That depends on the house. A sound cast iron boiler in a Berea century home can outlast a new furnace, so we often repair the boiler and add cooling separately. If the boiler is cracked or the piping is failing, we price both paths and let you compare real numbers.

Can you work on a rental property while tenants are in it?

Yes. When you book, tell us who owns the property, how to reach the tenant for access and who is authorizing the repair. Our hours run to 10:00 PM daily, which helps when a tenant cannot be home during the day.
