Cleveland Heating, Cooling and Plumbing Repair
From the brick doubles in Tremont to the postwar ranches out in West Park, Cleveland homes ask very different things of a heating system. Raber HVAC covers all of it. We run service calls on the near west side, down Broadway Avenue, through Old Brooklyn and up into Collinwood, and our office on Rockside Rd keeps us close to the interstates.
- Furnace and boiler repair across Cleveland neighborhoods
- Air conditioning installs sized for narrow city lots

What Cleveland houses ask of a heating and cooling system
Cleveland has no single housing type. Slavic Village and Ohio City hold Victorian frame houses from the 1880s, Old Brooklyn is full of 1920s bungalows, and West Park is mostly 1920s to 1950s Cape Cods and Colonials, plus postwar ranches. The older stock usually carries an oversized furnace, gravity ducts converted years ago, and a chimney liner that needs a look before any new equipment goes in.
City lots are narrow, so condensers often sit in a side yard three feet from the neighbor's wall, where airflow and noise both become an issue. Many older Cleveland houses also have masonry chimneys serving both a water heater and a furnace. Swap in a high efficiency furnace that vents out the side and the water heater is left orphaned.

Do you service every Cleveland neighborhood?
We do. Raber HVAC runs calls from Edgewater and Detroit Shoreway across to University Circle, Collinwood and Slavic Village, plus Old Brooklyn and West Park on the southwest side. Our address is 6505 Rockside Rd in Independence, which puts I-77, I-480 and I-71 all within a few minutes.
My Cleveland house has a boiler and radiators. Do you handle those?
Yes. Steam and hot water boilers are common in the older parts of the city, and we service, repair and replace them. That includes circulator pumps, zone valves, expansion tanks and low water cutoffs. If a boiler is past saving, we explain what a modern replacement needs from your existing piping.
Does furnace work in the City of Cleveland need a permit?
Yes. The City of Cleveland requires a permit to install or replace a furnace, boiler or refrigeration equipment, and the contractor who pulls it must hold a State of Ohio license and be registered with the city. Ask any contractor, us included, for the permit number before work starts. Keeping the permit on file also protects you later, because a buyer's inspector will ask who did the install and whether it was signed off.
