Equipment that treats the whole house
Portable units clean one room while the system keeps circulating everything else. These work at the air handler, so they treat all of it.
Whole home air cleaners
Four and five inch media cabinets and electronic cleaners installed at the air handler, so every cubic foot the system moves gets filtered rather than one room at a time.
Whole home humidifiers
Bypass and steam units tied to the ductwork and controlled by a humidistat. The fix for winter nosebleeds, static shocks and gaps opening in hardwood floors.
Dehumidification
Ducted dehumidifiers for damp basements and humid shoulder seasons when it is too cool to run the air conditioner but the air still feels heavy.
UV and sterilization
UV lamps at the evaporator coil to keep biological growth off the wet surface where it otherwise takes hold, which also protects airflow and efficiency.
Ventilation
Fresh air intakes and energy recovery ventilators for tight, well sealed homes that trap stale air, cooking odors and carbon dioxide.
Duct evaluation
Before we sell you a filter, we look at whether leaky returns are pulling attic, garage or crawlspace air into the system in the first place.
What the house is telling you
Nearly every air quality complaint traces back to filtration, humidity or ventilation. Usually it is obvious once you know where to look.
- Dust settles again a day after cleaning
- Leaky return ducts pulling unfiltered air from an attic or crawlspace, or a filter with a bypass gap around the frame
- Static shocks, cracked lips, gaps in the floorboards
- Winter indoor humidity sitting in the teens. A whole home humidifier holds it in the thirties
- Musty smell that gets stronger when the system kicks on
- Biological growth on the evaporator coil or in a drain pan that is not clearing properly
- Allergy symptoms that are worse indoors than out
- A one inch filter passing most of the particulate that actually matters, and nothing capturing it downstream
- Stuffy, stale air in a newer or recently sealed home
- Not enough outside air exchange. Tight construction needs mechanical ventilation to breathe
- One room always damp or always dusty
- Airflow imbalance. Often a duct run that is undersized, crushed or disconnected somewhere out of sight

Measure, then recommend
Selling an air cleaner into a system with crushed returns and high static pressure does not fix anything. It just adds cost and restriction.

Frequently, yes. The EPA has reported indoor pollutant levels commonly running several times higher than outdoors, and it matters more here because Ohio weather keeps people inside for a large part of the year. The same tight building envelope that lowers your gas bill also holds everything else in.
A high MERV one inch filter can, yes. It restricts airflow, static pressure climbs and the blower works harder. The right approach is a four or five inch media cabinet, which gives you far more surface area, better filtration and lower resistance at the same time. We measure static pressure before recommending anything.
Roughly thirty to forty percent in winter and forty to fifty in summer. Too low and you get static, dry sinuses and shrinking woodwork. Too high and you get condensation on windows, musty smells and conditions that favor mold.
A coil light does one job well: it keeps biological growth off the wet evaporator coil, which protects airflow and stops the musty smell at its source. In duct air sterilization claims are far weaker, because air passes the lamp too quickly. We install them for coil protection and we are honest about the limits.
Sometimes, but it is oversold. It is worth it after a renovation, after rodent activity, or if you can see heavy debris. Otherwise the better spend is usually sealing leaky returns and upgrading filtration, because that stops new dust entering rather than removing some of what is already there.
In most cases yes. Media cabinets, humidifiers, UV lamps and dehumidifiers all integrate with equipment you already own. We check the ductwork and blower capacity first so we are not adding restriction the system cannot handle.
