What we handle

Heating work, start to finish

Repairs on what you have, replacements when repair stops making sense, and maintenance that keeps both off the emergency list.

Gas furnace repair

Ignition faults, flame sensors, blower motors, pressure switches, cracked heat exchangers and control boards. We carry the common parts so most calls end in one visit.

Furnace replacement

Single stage, two stage and modulating units sized by a Manual J load calculation rather than whatever happened to be in the basement before.

Heat pump systems

Cold climate heat pumps and dual fuel setups that pair with a furnace, so you get efficient heat in the shoulder seasons and gas heat when it drops below freezing.

Boiler and hydronic

Cast iron and high efficiency boilers, circulators, zone valves, expansion tanks and radiator balancing for the older homes all over this area.

Seasonal tune ups

Combustion analysis, safety checks, heat exchanger inspection and airflow verification. Documented readings, not a sticker and a handshake.

Emergency no heat

A staffed line at every hour. In a freeze, no heat calls jump the queue ahead of routine appointments, every time.

Know the signs

Six things worth a phone call

None of these fix themselves, and most get cheaper the earlier they are caught.

  • Short cycling: the burner lights and shuts off again within a couple of minutes
  • Rooms that never reach the number on the thermostat, no matter how long it runs
  • A gas smell, soot around the burner, or a yellow instead of blue flame
  • Banging, screeching or rumbling that starts on ignition
  • A gas bill climbing year over year with no change in the weather or the thermostat
  • The blower runs constantly but the air coming out is barely warm

Repair or replace: how we run the numbers

Rather than sell you a system, we put two figures side by side and let them argue.

Age against expected life
Under twelve years, repair is usually the better buy. Past fifteen, every repair is money spent on equipment near the end of its run.
Repair cost against replacement
If a single repair passes roughly a third of replacement cost, replacement generally wins on a five year view.
What it costs you to run
An old eighty percent furnace burns about a fifth more gas than a modern ninety six percent unit. On an Ohio heating season that difference is real money.
Safety, which overrules the rest
A cracked heat exchanger is not a repair conversation. We red tag it, show you the evidence and shut it down.

Radiant and hydronic

Heat that comes up through the floor

Forced air heats the air and the air heats you, which is why a room can read seventy two and still feel drafty. Radiant heats the surfaces, so the floor is warm underfoot and the temperature holds steady without a fan cycling all evening.

  • In floor PEX tied and spaced to a layout, then pressure tested and held under pressure through the pour
  • Good fit for basements, additions, bathrooms and slab on grade construction
  • Zoned room by room, so the bathroom can run warm without cooking the bedrooms
  • Pairs with a condensing boiler that runs at low water temperature, where efficiency is highest
  • Silent, with no ducts to move dust around the house
Ask about in floor heat
Radiant floor heating PEX tubing tied to reinforcing mesh over a vapor barrier with the manifold stub ready for connection
Loops tied and spaced before the pour
Gas fired boiler with sight glass, flue connection and service valves in an older Northeast Ohio basement
Boiler service in older housing stock
Neatly labeled manifold with numbered zone tags, strapped lines and a Raber HVAC service record card, showing installation workmanship
Numbered zones and a service card on the wall. The next technician, ours or anyone's, can read this system in thirty seconds.
Installation standards

What a good install actually looks like

Equipment brand matters far less than the hands that install it. A mid range furnace installed properly will outlive a premium one installed badly.

  • Manual J load calculation before anything is ordered, so the unit matches the house
  • Static pressure measured and ductwork corrected when it is choking the system
  • Combustion analyzed and documented at commissioning, not assumed
  • Venting sized and pitched to code, with condensate handled properly
  • Lines labeled, valves accessible and clearances left for the next service call
  • Manufacturer warranty registered for you, so the coverage is actually in force
Heating FAQ

Heating questions we answer most

If yours is not here, call and ask. We would rather answer it now than have you guess.

Ask us directly

Most often it is a failed igniter or a dirty flame sensor, so the burner never lights and you feel unheated air from the blower. It can also be an overheating limit trip caused by a clogged filter. Change the filter first. If it repeats, stop running it and call, because a repeating limit trip can point at a cracked heat exchanger.

Seven counties, one local crew

We are based in Independence and most of our work sits inside a forty minute drive. That is deliberate. A tight radius is what makes same day service possible instead of aspirational.
